Secret report; in 1909 Ottoman government permitted to English expedition to excavate near Gihon Spring. Expedition was formed by captain Parker, major Wilson, 1 Armenian dragoman and 2 members of Parliament for surveillance. Excavations in secret with good finances. Rumours about search of King's David treasures or a channel to Solomon's temple under Mosque of Omar. Using a secret authorization of local administration they started to excavate in the mosque, the secret was disclosed, disturbances, rumours about massacre in mosque, panic. English archaelogists departed, local officials and gendarmes were arrested; archaeology. Sender: Russian consul general in Jerusalem A.F.
