Scope and content
The butchers’ tax of the centre of Jerusalem, commonly owned by the Goods’ Fund and the Municipal Fund, was put on Dutch auction to the account of 1321 (1905-1906) and it was retained by its previous contractor Arif Bulseni (?) Effendi at a rate of 40,000 piasters. Despite necessary incentives, no other suitor came to the fore; after the completion of bidding, some time was given for this amount to reach its previous costs. Nevertheless, it was considered that, if no other person came to show any interest, it would be more favorable to let it out with the said cost than to let it out on government account. Hence, it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council so as to take due action in respect thereof after taking the opinion of Sanjak’s Accounting on this issue. The 15th of Shubât (1)320 (28th of February 1905).
