Report of the commissioner of the imperial soldiers in regard of the toilet watercourse of al-Sultânî Castle leading to the trench outside of Jaffa Gate
It has been found from the report of the [municipal] engineer that it is urgent to do a sewage drain of twenty meter and a hole in order to collect the waste of the soldiers’ upland camp. Given the beginning of summer, it is impossible to put off this construction due to the plenty of wastewater and the [threat] of infectious diseases. Accordingly, it has been decided by the council to do it by proxy with the knowledge of one of the council members, Shlomo Effendi, and the [municipal] engineer ‘Ibrâhîm Effendi under the condition not to exceed the amount of al-mîrî. Afterwards a permit will be taken from the council as there is no (illegible) in the budget. So, in order to undertake [the construction] and to spend what is needed from the municipality treasury, this decision was taken on the 6th of Mâyis (1)313 (18th of May 1895).
