The tax department in Beirut has been asked to exempt the six fire engines brought from Europe from the custom tax, but no answer has arrived yet. [Therefore,] if the fire engines would remain at Jaffa tax department, it is obligatory to pay the ground tax. Accordingly, it has been decided on the council level to pay custom taxes and to deposit them at tax department until an answer is attained. In order for this to be approved in accordance with the above, this decision was taken on the 15th of Nîsân (1)311 (27th of April 1895).
