Since the incomes of the municipal fund are not sufficient enough to cover the whole expenditure for water to be poured this summer on the macadam extending from the Bâb al-Halil gate to the municipal hospital, it has been considered appropriate that part of the expenditure be apportioned among the house owners living in the vicinity of the said macadam. There are some foreign subjects among those people living there, so the consulates’ translators have been summoned to convey to them that they need to pay a certain amount of money. The collection process has started, but the persons whose names are specified in the hereby presented bills are delaying the payment of the requested on various pretexts. Hence, for the purpose of immediately collecting the money requested from them, it is thus appropriate to send letters to the consulates to which they are subject. The 17th of Tishrîn Thânî (1)314 (29th of November 1898).
