-God forbid- it is of utmost urgency to provide the necessary fire extinguishers. 6 pumps, 18 hose-pipes and other equipment that shall be kept at Jerusalem Municipality (cost: 150 French liras). 60 liras of this total amount have been appropriated to Jaffa and Ramla municipalities, however, until now only 44 liras have been sent and 16 liras is wanting. Unless the amount of tax for above-mentioned pumps is decided by the Beirut Tax Office, these pumps cannot be tax-exempt. On the other hand, until the amount of tax for these pumps is decided, storage tax for this equipment will be charged. However, if the written document from Beirut is delayed, then the storage tax will cost more than the customs tax. Thus, the 16 liras that should be paid from the cash department of Jaffa municipality shall be paid as a deposit to Jaffa tax administration. Since it is necessary to use the above-mentioned pumps immediately, in case of a delay, the due storage tax will be collected from those who are responsible for this matter. It is appropriate to mention the matter at hand to the governor of the Jaffa district via written decree. The 15th of Mâyis (1)311 (27th of May 1895).
